And so we begin again.......

That time of year is here again....mating! It is all a bit different this time with Matt and Cathy not on farm - the pressure of decision making is on! Anyway plenty of long emails and calls on skype will soon solve the dilemmas! Today maternity 1 and the last years few empty girls came through the shed. The luckiest of the girls made it in to paddocks with a few of the best of our Lotharios - Commisario, Spartacus and Stravinsky - all of whom were pleasingly happy to oblige! The rest had to make do with pen mating. I don't think the boys could believe their luck! I think they thought winter would never end - you just have to feel sorry for the boys not lucky enough to get the right girl come through the pens! The drought continues for them. For us a little rain over the last 48 hours meant a small but welcome relief from drought. With high winds accompanying the rain we can only hope the show team will feel nicely revived, I know the paddocks will.

Nationals is fast approaching so halter training and trimming are looming fast! Still preying each night that Cathy will come home scissors in hand!

It is a long weekend here so not much will be going on with the exception of some matings for hermitage alpacas and the avid watching of the heavy due paddock. Time for a little catching up on paperwork and the website!
