Quietness has reigned over the christmas period with the soaring temperatures making inactivity the order of the day for the alpacas. Fortunately new years day bought us - 2 and 4 legged beings - a welcome cool change so it was back to the matings. This week we are bringing through the white females who carried over the winter empty. Fortunately the boys have returned to work with gusto and the girls are behaving beautifully so things are ticking along nicely.
Valour has made us proud with the arrival of a rather stylish male cria and Tom Cat and Versace continue to impress with the calibre of their first drop. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of cria from the newer coloured males but those girls are hanging on to pregnancy with grim determination!
The good behaviour of the girls in the mating shed means we have been able to introduce young male Hennessey to the pack - he's what I would call a quiet achiever!
